Year 6 Camp

During Week 1, our Year 6 students had an amazing time at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp. Here, they took part in activities such as surf lifesaving, caving, archery, orienteering and the BIG SWING! Students all challenged themselves by facing their fears (with an obvious lack of sleep for some!) and working with a group of students they may not have had the chance to before. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all staff who gave up their time to allow our students this experience and to our students for being incredibly organised and well-behaved. Reading

With all of the extra-curricular activities available to children these days (technology being a huge factor!) sometimes the simple act of reading gets forgotten. At Kinross, we promote reading across our school in many ways; by staying on top of best-practise research and delivering high quality units of work, to offering online educational programs and reading support for those who may require extra assistance and encouraging a love of reading through celebrations and awards. We see proof that a student who enjoys reading and who does it regularly has success across many learning areas. We encourage all families to promote reading in the home, both as an individual endeavour and as a group activity. Speak to your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions or would like some support in this area.
